News reaches us today of the latest petulant outburst from the Soviet Socialist Railworkers Union, the RMT.
To any ordinary, reasonable human being, if there’s ice and/or snow on the ground, the sensible thing to do is to chuck a bit of salt or grit around so people don’t fall down and hurt themselves.
Unfortunately for those forced to use the London Underground such measures are now a thing of the past as RMT’s member were told in a recent memo: “The majority of station staff have received no agreed formal training to undertake this activity, including working with hazardous materials and manual handling, plus there is no agreed staff PPE on stations.”
So it seems that RMT members are incapable of shovelling grit without proper training and high visibility jackets and helmets.
If ever there was a classic example of petty-minded bureaucracy, this is it.
Makes you sick, doesn’t it?
